December 2022. Its been way too long since we last updated our website but this is due to things being so busy! As we always say, if you would like something doing...give it to a busy person! This year we have come out of Lockdown fully and strong and have been growing our team with the help of Esther Bavington who is a great Historian and has a great passion for managing change in the historic environment. Esther has been helping with Heritage Statements as well as our most recent project of writing an Urban Design Guide for Bishop Burton - a place which Pevsner wrote was 'One of the loveliest villages in England". Watch this space for more in the New Year as this is a very exciting project.
January 2021. Delighted to have our research paper on historic land use in Leeds published through the proceedings of 'Heritage and Sustainability' Conference in association with TUDelft University. books.bk.tudelft.nl/index.php/press/catalog/book/781
December 2020. Delighted that our consultation draft for the Ellerker Conservation Area has now been submitted for review. Watch this space for more.
December 2020. Sign off from Harden Neighbourhood Planning Group for our work (under lockdown conditions) for the Harden Non Designated Heritage Assets assessment. This identified non designated heritage assets along with photograph of each, bespoke research and a summary of significance to help manage change within this great village near Bradford.
September 2020. We helped provide heritage assessment for a Grade II Listed Building conversion and new build. Through on site assessment we identified that the building contained extant timber framing within and this likely pushed the date of the building back into the 16th century. Planning and LBC approved.
June 2020. Pleased to have won a tender for a Heritage Support Statement for regeneration of a port area in a great little English coastal town. Watch this space for more.
May 2020 Its been an interesting few months to say the least. But here at TheUrbanGlow 'home studio' things are carrying on. We actually have been able to undertake a fair amount of work remotely, including an assessment of Non Designated Heritage assets in a village near Bradford (soon to be published.) Its always risky relying too much on Google street view to get info, but in this case, in terms of dating buildings, it actually worked very well. When we finally did get out on site, there were (fortunately) no nasty surprises.
Welcome 2020. TheUrbanGlow looking forward to undertaking more creative Heritage/Design fusion work this year. We are very excited about some potential Conservation Area Appraisals and exciting talks that we will be doing. Watch this space for more. In the mean time. Happy New Year to you all!
December 2019
Its nearly that time again for us to bring out TheUrbanGlow xmas logo! But its been a very busy last few months. A fair bit of travelling to visit and assess sites and lots of exciting work on wonderful heritage buildings to consider. Most notably this month Andy Graham attended TUDelft University in Holland for a Heritage and Sustainability conference. A wonderful group of practitioners and academics looking at the opportunities and challenges around future climate change adaption and the fact that HISTORIC BUILDINGS ARE SUSTAINABLE! (something that we have advocated for years now).
Anyway, as the year draws to a close, we'd just like to say a big thankyou to all our clients, consultants and local authority officers who we have worked with this year. Merry Christmas and a Happy, Happy New Year!

Well lots of work on including a masterplan of Leeds and lots of Historic Area Assessments for Local Authorities in Yorkshire. Added to this our plethora of Heritage Statements, in our very own unique style has been leading to more and more planning permissions being granted within some very sensitive areas.
